I awoke, having dreamt of sunnier climes

In 2011 I left the demands of the corporate world behind to spent Christmas and New Year’s in Italy with friends. It was a marvellous adventure accessorised by breathtakingly beautiful scenery that provided a refreshing change from all that my eyes had grown accustomed to amidst the London skyline (a city I’d adored – where I worked such gruelling hours that there was seldom time to observe a sunrise. Can you believe that!!!!). To redress the balance here’s a permanent souvenir : footage of the sunset at the Villa Monastero. There are numerous botanical gardens are on my left (un-pictured); at first pause, we see Lecco and Colico, which together form branches of Lake Como.  I‘m grateful for this memory and wanted to share the beauty and experience with you.

So, tell me more about you…

What’s your most favoured travelling memory?

Where did you last travel to?

What do you like about the changing of each season / winter?

Do you have any seasonal traditions or habits?  One of ours is to forage for conkers, feed the ducks and take tranquil nature walks.

Each season gives birth to the other. I do not bemoan the crisp bracing air which accompanies an English Winter. Additionally, there’s joy to be found in the subtle variance of autumnal colours and beauty in the starkness of nature.
